Messages and Messengers
Many of you, my readers already l know I follow Jesus, the son of God of Abraham Issac, and Jacob. There has been messengers all the way from the book of Genesis through the book of Revelation. There were messengers and prophets who would give warnings of what was coming their way. There was no phones, main stream media or newspapers. When prophets were not revered they were often stoned to death.
Moses from the Old Testament, was instructed by God to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt Exodus 14, found the children complaining about everything. Yet God removed their worries replacing them with peace when God buried Pharoah and his horsemen and chariots in the sea that was dry land for the children to cross. Moses, was God’s mouthpiece. Joshua, also book of Joshua chapter 1, was appointed by God to lead the children of Israel out of the wilderness across the Jordan to another land that God was giving them.
God uses who He wants in our lives to bring messages to us. If we stop to analyze the who and their eligibility, we may be like the children of Israel stuck in the desert and not find the land promised to us. God tells us in the Ten Commandments to not bare false witness and proverbs tells us to not carry gossip.
What I’m seeing is people finding fault in some messengers. What is happening is self-beliefs that there are only certain leaders we should listen to and they seem to think they have the right to judge. Fact is they themselves may actually lead you away from God’s message to you. The rule of my heart is to search God’s word to find confirmation to what the messenger is trying to tell me. The Book of Numbers 22, Balaam was told by God to not go with Balak. When Balaam followed anyway his donkey saw what Balaam could not see. Balaam was beating his donkey when God open the mouth of the donkey. “Why are you beating me?” She saw an angel with a sword in hand. Then God opened Balaam’s eyes and he could see too. You can open your eyes and heart to hear God and you shouldn’t need a donkey to tell you His message for you. Don’t go by public opinion to come to your conclusion.
The adversary the devil will mislead you and use other people to put us at odds with others. I don’t believe God wants us to criticize one another. If you’re at odds with someone go to them and speak privately with them. If they are speaking an untruth God will lead others away from them. Your job is to love others the way God loves you. Speaking against someone else when you’re going by others’ opinions or tales says to me you are shallow and can’t decide for yourself. If we tear down another makes us no different than the world’s critics and we may be hypocrites. Be bold and trust God for the messages you hear and don’t go stoning the messengers.
