No Trip to the Grocery is Ordinary Anymore. š
Have you ever noticed how fascinating the grocery actually is? Iām the kind of person who loves to observe people and the grocery store is one of my favorite places to see how we as humans behave in public. Many make me laugh. There are all the marriage dynamics you could ever imagine. You can easily tell who makes all the family decisions and who carries the money. Sometimes itās the man full of pride and leadership who you know couldnāt cook anything if he tried. He picks out the foods he knows his wife can cook. Sometimes the basket for the groceries is pushed by a woman and her face is set because she knows what foods her family will eat. There are those who arenāt married that love looking at all the new products and things that draws their taste buds. Fancy wines and cheeses to go with their best choice of beef. There are the senior citizens who are never in a hurry. Shopping is their day out and shopping for pre-prepared food that is dairy and gluten free. They try every sample and use those things for their date night. The big box stores like Costco, Samās and Walmart have similar shoppers. Costco and Samās itās a speedway, carts up and down as fast as they can go. There are near misses hitting others and there are some needing a car horn to honk, not because they need one, just because they want to honk. Like the fellow behind me today who politely said, āexcuse me.ā I answered I could not move because another was blocking my ability to move forward. Then there are the ones with children. The smell of pizza in the air what child can resist asking mom or dad for a slice. Walmart is a bit slower but the people are not too different. The parents find it is a great opportunity to bring sleepy babies to scream up and down the isles. There are the jealous ones who see a service dog and bring theirs too. The way you find out their dog is not a service dog is in the growl and bark at a child just wanting to pet it. Iāve actually gone to a corner in the store to look at my list to find people hovering around me thinking I found something they have missed. The grocery store was once a place to just be irritated long enough to get my own groceries but when I go now, I just let the people entertain me.
