Salads Can’t Stand Alone
My last post was about reviewing the cost of independent grocery shopping. What I have been doing on my journey of eating better, I found foods I purchase from grocery stores I find I spend way too much time reading labels looking for foods made with sugar, sodium, gluten and seeing ingredients that I don’t know how to pronounce. My searching has lead me to supplements and answers to some of my health issues. What I have found mostly on YouTube all kinds of baking, cooking and recipes I can make myself. I found sugar substitutes I can use in baking bread, cooking and finding diabetic foods. My advice is research multiple YouTube videos and pick a simple recipe. Write down or save the process before buying any ingredients. If you’re doing Keto, Paleo or any kind of diet you also research which ingredients you should use. One simple biscuit recipe I tried was, made in a mug.
You coat a mug with nonstick spray,
2 tbs melted butter
1 egg
3tbs almond flour
1/4 Tsp of baking powder
Mix dry ingredients
Mix put in a mug add egg and butter.
Microwave 90 seconds
Toast if you like in a pan. This was simple and great with an egg.
I find the simplest recipes come out with the best results. The next thing I looked for was a keto jam. There are many of those but again the simplest turned out great. My sweetener of choice is monk fruit as it does not interfere with my blood sugar and doesn’t leave an aftertaste. I’ll be looking at a bread recipe. What I’m trying to convey is what we may have to do is go back to the basics and learn new recipes and things. You won’t lose learning new things.
